Monday, March 28, 2005

HONOLULU – www.pashahawaii.com – Pasha Hawaii Transport Lines (Pasha Hawaii) celebrates the MV Jean Anne’s maiden voyage and the start of roll-on/roll-off (ro/ro) shipping service to Hawaii with an initial call in Hilo on March 28, followed by port calls in Kahului, also on March 28, and in Honolulu – on March 29 at Piers 31-34. The Jean Anne is a brand-new vessel that brings state-of-the-art ocean transportation to Hawaii, creates healthy competition, and provides Hawaii businesses and residents with new options for shipping vehicles between the U.S. mainland and Hawaii.

Pasha Hawaii launched its service with the transport of Chrysler Group, Honda, Mazda, Lotus and Porsche vehicles aboard the Jean Anne from San Diego to Hawaii. The Jean Anne's cargo of more than 2,200 vehicles, in addition to a number of trucks, buses, boats, trailers and tractors, constitutes the largest single shipment of vehicles from the mainland to Hawaii. The Jean Anne will serve the Hawaii market exclusively, offering arrivals every two weeks.

Customers can access Pasha Hawaii’s new Web site, www.pashahawaii.com, for information about services offered, schedules, the company, and the Jean Anne. Customers can also use the site to make an online vehicle shipment reservation, and to contact a shipping and logistics expert for customized service, including residential pickup and delivery.

The Jean Anne's ro/ro design is the globally preferred method of ocean transport for vehicles. Its design provides for more efficient loading and discharging of vehicles, with less cargo damage.

"We are very pleased with the strong showing of support for our first voyage, which successfully departed last Tuesday after a fitting christening and inaugural voyage celebration at our marine terminal in San Diego," said George W. Pasha IV, president of Pasha Hawaii Transport Lines. "We are very appreciative to all who joined us and witnessed first-hand the advantages of shipping autos and other rolling stock through a dedicated roll-on/roll-off terminal, and via the first U.S.-built pure car truck carrier (PCTC). We are looking forward to introducing our service to the community in Hawaii during our upcoming welcome celebrations in Hawaii this week."
