Volkswagen of America Awards Multi-Year Contract to Pasha
Monday, October 2, 2006The Pasha Group announced today that it has been awarded a multi-year contract by Volkswagen of America for the carriage of all Volkswagen and Audi vehicles to Hawaii. These vehicles will ship on the MV Jean Anne, operated by Pasha Hawaii Transport Lines (PHTL).
"Pasha Distribution Services, the lead automotive logistics arm of The Pasha Group, has been managing the flow of all of Volkswagen's products to Hawaii since 1999, using multiple service carriers including PHTL," said Peter Young, president of the Automotive and Logistics Division. "With this award, Young continued, "Volkswagen has specifically chosen Pasha Hawaii to exclusively handle their shipments to the Hawaiian Islands. We are pleased to have the quality of our service recognized in this manner."
PHTL provides Roll-on/Roll-off (Ro-Ro) service for vehicles and other rolling cargo between the Port of San Diego and Hawaii, the preferred method of ocean shipping for vehicle manufacturers worldwide. Dedicated Pure Car Truck Carrier service was not available in the U.S. Mainland to Hawaii lanes until PHTL entered the market in 2005 with the MV Jean Anne, a vessel built specifically for the Hawaii automotive and over, high and wide cargo market.
The Jean Anne makes direct calls to the islands of Hawaii, Maui, Oahu and Kauai, eliminating rehandling and expediting time to market.
